Just an update. I’ve been riding a lot, and between that and school, writing is a bit tough. Hopefully now that its snowing i’ll be able to devote some more time here. I usually do little bike checks every once and a while, but I haven’t since February when I built my new bike. Sooo:

CHARLES RIVER UPDATE

This is an update from the bowels of the Timeless Page. At the time that I wrote it, the building of the trails was not set in stone. However, as of recently, the city has agreed to it. Come spring, they will be trucking in dirt for Timeless and the crew to begin digging trails directly under the Zakim Bridge. Needless to say, I will be there to help dig. Also, the Charles River Conservatory Skatepark, which was set to be completed fall 2007, will finally break ground this spring, as the fundraising goal has been reached. The City of Cambridge will also be building a skate plaza in North Cambridge. So look forward to a good year of riding.

Adapt Your Apple

Venturing into the land of computer programming is a risky move. Yet so many people are doing it, what with the new Ipods and all sorts of mod-able devices. My good friend recently acquired a brand new Ipod Touch. After toying with it and marveling over its beautiful touch screen for about a week, he decided he needed more. So, enter our resident hacker, we will call him ‘Gregor’. He discovers software that, once downloaded to your Touch, allows anything to be put on it. All sorts of applications, games, anything. He has even been known to make the Ipod walk his dog. With all these hacks getting crazier and crazier, more people are wanting in. Gregor has had more business lately than ever, showing people how this works. If you aren’t careful, I wouldn’t be surprised if you you end up with a bigger problem on (in) your hands. As the application creaters get better and better, they also come up with great games, such as Chuzzle. Chuzzle is a game with fuzz balls of different colors which must be put in rows. Tetrominoes, a Tetris knock-off, is also a rather good game. There all sound great, right? Makes you want to go run out and buy a $400 Ipod Touch? Ok, but consider that with all the new hacks and software comes a few issues. 1. If it screws up your Ipod, you are screwed. 2. Something tells me that overriding Apple’s software with the other guy’s software somehow voids the warranty (it does). When things void their warranties, generally the company won’t take them back and fix them once you’ve dropped them out your window, or some other equally bad thing. So, remember that before you call Gregor.

As some may have heard, pro bmxer Jimmy Levan took a serious hit on the head filming for Odyssey’s new video. As a result, he now is in a medically induced coma for his fractured skull. The docs say he should be waking up soon enough….

First Day of 8th, Last Year at OMS

Please Note: I have not had a chance to update the blog in a few weeks due to the fact that there was a bit of an issue: school. So bear with me.

I missed the bus. Plain and simple the worst way to start your first day. Fortunatly, I managed to make it to school on time. The first day always consists of listening to pep-talks (lectures) by faculty, getting your cluster, sitting for three hours in home room, and filling out piles of paperwork. This does not make a good first impression, especially for the 6th graders. Now, if you’re in 8th grade, you’ve made it. You’re the biggest and baddest in theyou are school during your 8th grade year. Then, you are abruptly dumped into highschool, to be the young ones again for the next three years. Do we think about this though? No, not until the last week of school at least, just in time to spoil the summer. Another boring First Day activity is taking your math assesement. You are given and hour and a half to complete 6 problems. Needless to say, it took me all of 6 minutes to complete them. Then, another hour and 24 minutes to spare, with nothing to do. Fun. The only good thing about the 1st day is that all of the 8th graders get to have lunch together. So now I’ve made it through my first whole week. It’s not bad, except for the 4 HOURS OF TEDIOUS HOMEWORK A NIGHT! But I will learn to deal with that. And supplies? Binders and notebooks for each subject, a folder for each binder, pencils, pens, markers, GAH! I don’t even want to talk about it. So, I won’t. In fact, I’m going to go busy myself by watching the Emmy’s (as there is nothing else on). And, of course, wonder why, oh why, Ryan is wearing cowboy boots (it’s cause he’s short).

In general, I find that beer commercials are deadly dull. They aren’t funny and are usually belittleing to men. That’s why they are on and off the air faster that their products are supposed to dissapear. But when this commercial was brought to my attention by a very dear friend of mine, it was hard for me to grasp that it was a commercial intended to sell beer!!

It’s clever (well sort of), and funny, if not a tad bit unrealistic. Everything that you could possibly want in a commercial. What’s more, if you had quaffed several gallons of their product, it would seem even better! But as you all know, drinking is bad for you. And you should never, never do it. Need I say more (cough Lindsay Lohan cough, cough….)?

As many of my dear friends know, I am a huge fan of Chuck Norris jokes. So, I will be posting a Chuck Norris joke every once in a while. There is, however one thing I must say; I know that you have heard all of these jokes before (unless you live in Antarctica), but I do not care. These jokes are always funny to me, and you had better get the same attitude. So here is the first.
